Local Governing Body (LGB)
Our Local Governing Body is currently made up of the following members:
Mr Andrew Green - Chairperson and Safeguarding
I joined the board of Governors at Hadleigh Junior in March 2023 as a Trust appointed Governor. I took on the additional role of Vice-chairperson in September 2024. My responsibilities are Filtering & Monitoring and help with monitoring of the LAC and SEND children at the school.I was honoured to take up the role of Chair of Governors in March 2025.
I have worked in the IT and Financial sectors for all of my career in Project management and Departmental management roles. As an ex-pupil of Hadleigh, I was very excited when the opportunity came available to be a Governor, and I hope to bring my work experience to bear in this position.
I am Civil partnered and have 1 child.
Outside of work, I enjoying walking my dog, photography, gardening, and really just like being outside. My go to subject at school was always History and continues to this day.
Miss Jennifer Cole - Headteacher
I am proud to be the Head of School and ex-officio governor at Hadleigh Junior School. My role, in terms of governance, is to report to the Governing Board regularly and to work with the Executive Headteacher to implement strategy that the Board has agreed to.
I joined Hadleigh Junior School in September 2024 as Head of School after several years in senior leadership roles in local primary schools, having begun my teaching career in 2008.
In my spare time, I enjoy holidays with my two children, singing, reading and keeping active.

Mrs Sarah Thompson - Staff Governor
I am one of the staff governors, having taught at Hadleigh Juniors since 2013. I have been a teacher since 2002, working in local primary schools across both key stages, in a variety of teaching and leadership roles. I am currently the Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for leading teaching and learning, pupil premium, educational visits and maths across the school.
As a staff Governor, my main role is to provide an insight into the day to day activities of the school and explain the various projects and initiatives taking place as well as being a voice for other members of school staff.
I am married with 1 child; I feel this allows me to understand the perspectives of both teachers and parents.
Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family in the 'great outdoors' including camping and walking- when the British weather permits.

Mrs Rachel Whipps - Staff Governor
I became a Governor in 2018. I wanted to become a Governor on order to support Hadleigh Juniors and help the school community be the best it can be for our children. At this time, I had a daughter in year 6, and a son in year 5, and worked at the school as a Midday Assistant.
I am now the school administrator and although both my children left Hadleigh Junior School long ago, I still find great reward in being a Governor and supporting the leaders, teachers and wider school community.

Ms Corinna Pieper – Trust Appointed Governor
Previously Chair of the Parents Association, I have been supporting the Hadleigh Junior Governing team as first as a parent governor and then as a sponsor governor since September 2016.
As well as weekly monitoring and termly policies review, I have a particular area of responsibility as Health & Safety governor.
I joined the Governing Board after my oldest had just left Hadleigh Junior School and my youngest was coming up from the Hadleigh Infants & Nursery School.
Born and raised in Germany, where governing boards only exist in companies, it is quite fascinating and rewarding that here is an actual chance as a parent to support the school and its community.

Mr David Retberg - Parent Governor
I became a Parent Governor in September 2020 whilst my eldest daughter was in year 4 and my second daughter was in year 2 at Hadleigh Infant School. I’m an Accountant and work for a financial services company in London. I currently live in Leigh-On-Sea having moved to Essex about 15 years ago. My particular area of responsibility as a parent governor are to monitor both Pupil and Sports premium. These are areas where HJS receives extra funding to help to support the pupils.

Mrs Kelly Bennett - Parent Governor
My husband and I moved our family to Hadleigh in June 2023 and settled our 4 children into the local Schools, Hadleigh Juniors being one of them.
I loved the feel of the school and knowing my 3 youngest children would all go to Hadleigh Junior school I liked the idea of being part of the school Community. Being a parent governor seemed a great way of being involved with the school and offer my support and help where needed. This is the first time I have done anything like this and being able to help influence how the schools run and policy’s that are created around our children seemed to me a good thing.
I have been doing this for just over a year now and really enjoy it, this year I will be part of the parent forum with another parent governor and look forward to hearing from other parents how we can be better.
In my spare time I love being with my friends and family, spending time together outdoors.
I enjoy being able to have a voice for not only the parents and children but a platform to be heard, challenge and be part of.
